Hello! I lied - I wasn’t abducted by aliens. Not exactly.
But recently I read a very engaging book called The Road to Roswell, by Connie Willis and I have become obsessed - which is a kind of abduction no? I’ve taken screenshots of a map of the route from Vancouver to Roswell and announced to my friends and family that I was taking a road trip - next year - 27 hours. I even collected links to different campsites and started a new note in my Evernote. It’s that serious!
This week I rented the movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind (you’ve all seen it many times right?) and spent an evening once again at the edge of my seat.
And then I watched live coverage of UFO whistleblower David Grusch testifying at a House hearing regarding UFO sightings and the recovery of biologic material - omg!!!
I admit it. I’m a Sci-fi buff - but I’ve spent the better part of the last 3 years watching and reading post-apocalyptic stories and I think I’m ready to come out of that slump! Time to plan a road trip to the Roswell UFO Festival, to line up all those old Alien movies and watch them again, and time for some good solid cosplay. Alien-eye shaped sunglasses anyone?
This is all by way of lead up to our next issue of Sea to Sky Review. This is a small online journal which we publish 2-3 times a year. So far there have been 9 issues. We’re planning a new issue to be published mid-October and the theme is ALIEN ENCOUNTERS. As always writers are free to interpret the theme in any way that suits their style and stuff but we hope you’ll send us your most ‘out of this world’ material.
Deadline October 1st.
Send your contributions and offerings to seatoskyreview@gmail.com
I’m posting this here, as well as on the Sea to Sky Review website, because many of my subscribers are also writers. What say you? Do you have a suitably alien poem in your pocket? Or photos? Or artwork! Do send it over!
